Consistency Rule Calculator
Paste your daily net P&L since the start of the evaluation or your last reset, and enter your firm's consistency limit. The calculator returns your best-day share, the total profit the rule requires, the profit still needed, and the range of next-day results that would meet the rule.
Your firm's dashboard decides whether you pass or are payout eligible. Use the result as a second check before the session.
Calculate your best-day share
Enter every day you traded, losing days included, in one currency and net of fees. Add a profit target if your firm raises it when the share is over the limit.
Ein Wert pro Zeile oder getrennt durch Leerzeichen, Semikolons oder Komma plus Leerzeichen. Eine eingefügte Tabellenspalte funktioniert unverändert.
Check the rule before the session, not after
A consistency rule caps how much of your total profit one day may contribute. Most of the work is in the inputs: which days count, whether results are net of fees, and when the count starts again. Once those are set, the calculator does the arithmetic.
How the consistency rule is calculated
Best-day share = best day ÷ total net profit. The total the rule requires is the best day divided by the limit, or the profit target if that is larger. Then:
Profit still needed = total the rule requires − total net profit
Worked example: four days with a 40% limit
The calculator starts with four hypothetical days of net P&L in USD from the consistency rule guide: +600, +1,500, −400, and +700, with a 40% limit and no profit target.
- Total net profit: 600 + 1,500 − 400 + 700 = 2,400 USD. Best day: 1,500 USD. Share: 1,500 ÷ 2,400 = 62.5%, over the limit.
- Total the rule requires: 1,500 ÷ 0.40 = 3,750 USD. Profit still needed: 3,750 − 2,400 = 1,350 USD.
- Next-day range: from 1,350 USD to 0.40 × 2,400 ÷ 0.60 = 1,600 USD. A 1,600 USD day would become the new best day at exactly 40% of a 4,000 USD total.
- After only the first two days, 1,650 USD was still needed, but the largest next day was 0.40 × 2,100 ÷ 0.60 = 1,400 USD. No single day could fix the share.
Two ways firms apply the limit
As of 20 October 2026, Topstep's consistency page describes both. In the Trading Combine, a best day above 55% of total profit raises the profit target to best day ÷ 0.55: a 1,800 USD best day raises a 3,000 USD target to 3,273 USD. On the Consistency path of the Express Funded Account, the largest day must be 40% of total net profit or less for payout eligibility, and the calculation resets after a payout request. Enter a profit target for the first kind of rule and leave it empty for the second.

The calculator takes the days as you enter them. It does not know your firm's trading-day cutoff, whether open positions count, or when the count resets, so group your trades into days the way your firm does and start from the last reset. The next-day range tells you which results would meet the rule. It is not a target to trade for, and it does not tell you what size to take.
In Tradeways, a goal can hold a Consistency constraint that calculates the same share from the net P&L of your closed trades, grouped by calendar day in your Tradeways timezone. Prop-firm templates create it with the firm's percentage. The goal shows At risk once the share reaches 75% of the limit, a Tradeways setting rather than a firm rule, and Breached above the limit. It does not raise a profit target, so use this calculator for the total the rule requires.
